Airton Agostinho

Airton, originally from Brazil, started playing tennis at the age of eleven and has always loved competing and improving. Tennis has always been a big part of his life learning from it respect, fairness and hard work.

Qualified in technology and business, Airton worked most of his life in the mechanical industry, but tennis has always been his passion and favourite hobby. At some point in life, Airton moved with his wife to New Zealand and decided to take a step towards his passion by becoming a tennis coach. The hard work paid off and he was given an opportunity to start his tennis coaching career with Tennis Monsters.

Airton is now a development tennis coach and seeks to help people in achieving the best they can be both on anad off the tennis court.

About MTM Airton has to say: “Everything started with Nick Jacques, during a coach-mentoring session. As a clay court player, adapting to New Zealand’s courts had been proving quite hard, so I took this opportunity to ask Nick to help me out with my one-handed backhand. Within few minutes of struggled rallying, Nick gave me a few simple instructions, and suddenly I could FEEL my backhand again.

The simplicity of the instructions and how naturally I adapted to the concept of “finding the ball with your hand” was shocking and that is when I asked myself: “Can I teach people in such an easy and natural manner?”

And that is how Airton decided to study and become an MTM instructor. He currently offers instruction at the Harcourts Eden Epsom Tennis and Squash Club,
